Most items here are made for standard valve sizes and fittings, but you should match the collar or sleeve to your pipe diameter, many collars are sold as 130 x 18mm or 300 x 18mm while sleeve kits are commonly 15mm. If your pipe is 15mm, buy a 15mm sleeve kit; if it's 18mm, choose an 18mm collar or the 300 x 18mm sleeves. If you're unsure, measure the outside diameter of the visible pipe or bring a photo to confirm before ordering.

Polypropylene kits are lightweight, corrosion-resistant and generally less expensive, so they're ideal for utility rooms or where cost and moisture resistance matter. Metal finishes such as chrome, brushed brass or antique brass give a more premium, durable look that matches metal valves and bathroom taps, but they cost more and are heavier. For a visible bathroom radiator, metal shrouds will tie the scheme together; for unseen or secondary spaces, polypropylene works very well.

You need a wall stay when a radiator or towel rail could move or lever away from the wall under load, particularly with tall or heavy radiators and towel rails with narrow fixings. Luxury wall stays hold the radiator secure and stop strain on the pipe joints. Fit one if the radiator wobbles or if the manufacturer recommends additional support for your model.

Dual fuel T pieces and elbows let you combine central heating with an electric heating element, so you can run a towel radiator on electricity when the boiler is off.
