Look at the overall width, height and depth ranges offered, typical widths run from about 485 mm to 1,215 mm, heights from roughly 593 mm to 1,100 mm and depths from 156 mm to 380 mm. If you have a shallow wall recess or want a slim, wall-mounted look, choose one of the shallow models (around 156–200 mm deep). For a stately mantel or suite you'll need the deeper options so the fire sits neatly within the surround. Measure the space you have and compare those figures to the product dimensions for a neat fit.

What's the difference between buying a suite and a standalone electric fire, and which should you choose?

A suite comes as a complete surround plus the fire (examples on our site include the Abbey stone-effect, Southwold oak and cream, and Monet Pure White suites) so you get an instant focal point with matching finishes. A standalone fire (like the Colorado or Helios models) is slimmer and suits built-in or custom surrounds and tight spaces. Pick a suite if you want a ready-made feature that sets the style; choose a standalone if you already have a mantel, need a slim profile or want flexibility to pair the fire with a different surround.

How do the fuel bed options (coal versus pebbles) affect the look and which is best for my style?

Coal beds give a more traditional, hearth-like appearance and work well with classic surrounds; pebble beds create a cleaner, contemporary look that suits modern brushed-steel or white finishes. The range includes four coal and six pebble fuel-bed options, so you can match the bed to your suite, such as a stone-effect or oak surround looks warm with coal, whereas the Monet Pure White suite pairs beautifully with pebbles.
