Depending on the type of black bathroom fixtures, there will be different cleaning methods. However, one of the best and most common black fixture cleaning solutions is warm water and a soft cloth.

Read on to find out the best ways to clean your black bathroom fixtures. From black toilets and taps, to black tiles, we’ve got a cleaning solution for all.

How to Clean a Black Toilet

While it’s drilled into us that the best way of cleaning a toilet is with bleach and a toilet brush, this isn’t the case with a matt black toilet. Black toilets need to be cleaned with much more care and no abrasive items or harsh chemicals. To clean a black toilet, wipe over regularly with a soft cloth and warm water, not only around the toilet seat and lid but the base and inside of the toilet too.

Once finished it’s a good idea to give the outside of the toilet, including the seat and lid a wipe over with a different soft dry cloth to prevent any water marks from staining the toilet.

This could be a messy job, if left to a weekly clean like most people do with a standard ceramic toilet, so we recommend cleaning your black toilet much more regularly, perhaps every other day or even every day. But make sure to wear rubber gloves, especially when wiping the inside of the toilet clean.

How to Clean Black Bathroom Taps

One of the best ways to safely and effectively clean black bathroom taps is regularly with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, or even warm water if you’re particularly concerned about damaging your taps. The fewer products you use when cleaning, the better.

Keeping on top of cleaning in your bathroom is essential for hygiene reasons but cleaning your black taps shouldn’t be overlooked. If possible, keep a soft cloth near your taps to use after each tap use. Wipe your taps down with a soft cloth to help prevent water marks from settling. This can help to keep your black taps looking as good as new for much longer.

It’s also best to avoid getting any make-up products or moisturisers on a black bathroom tap as these could leave stains and become difficult to remove. For matt black taps, as mentioned above it’s always best to use a soft cloth but you should avoid items such as paper towels for drying off your taps, as they can leave a white dusty substance on the taps, affecting the appearance of your tap.

Don’t use:

  • Chemical based cleaners
  • Abrasive materials such as scourers
  • Nothing acidic e.g. no homemade lemon cleaning solutions

How to Clean Black Shower Fixtures

Shower fixtures and showers can be one of the easiest places for dirt and grime to build up due to the amount of moisture they’re subjected to each day. Not only this but they tend to have lots of nooks and crannies, a perfect breeding ground for mould. That’s why it’s important to clean black shower fixtures just as often as you would chrome ones.

However, the process of cleaning black shower fixtures will be slightly different to that of a chrome shower fixture. While chrome can withstand harsh chemicals, matt black surfaces cannot.

With a black shower or shower enclosure it’s best to wipe them down with warm water and a soft cloth after each use, as this will help to reduce the build-up of water marks and limescale. This will also make cleaning your shower and enclosure easier as part of your weekly bathroom clean, as there will be less time for grime to build up.

How to Clean Black Bathroom Tiles

The best way to clean black bathroom tiles will depend on their material and finish. We’ll also discuss how to clean black grout, so keep reading to find out more.

While black bathroom floor and wall tiles and black grouting may not look visibly dirty like other colours of tile, they can be hiding a multitude of stains and germs, therefore, it’s just as important if not more so to make sure they’re cleaned regularly. You may be wondering how best to clean them. As a rule of thumb if you’re unsure about the material of your tiles it’s always best to be cautious and stick with a soft cloth and warm water.

However, if you know your tiles are hardwearing and can withstand other cleaning solutions then a mix of white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is a good choice. Simply mix one part vinegar with one part bicarbonate of soda to create a paste. This can then be applied directly to your tiles and left for 5-10 minutes before wiping off with warm water and a soft cloth. Make sure to remove all of the cleaning solution as if left too long, it may cause damage to your tiles.
